Overview
Fertilization in plants begins after the transfer of pollen grains to the stigma of the gynoecium. This is followed by the germination of pollen grain and formation of pollen tube. The pollen tube, carrying the two male gametes, enters the female gametophyte present in the ovule inside the ovary. Inside the female gametophyte, two fusion processes occur and complete the process of fertilization.
