Covalent Compounds

A covalent compound is made when two or more nonmetal atoms bond by sharing valence electrons. Covalent compounds have low boiling point, melting point and thermal conductivity. They are insoluble in water and  do not conduct electricity.

Learning objectives
After completing this module, you will be able to:
 - Identify what are covalent compounds.
 - Observe the boiling points of the covalent compounds.
 - Examine the solubility of the covalent compounds.
 - Demonstrate the flame test for the covalent compounds.
 - Demonstrate the thermal conductivity of the covalent compounds.
