Blood Flow in the Human Heart
The human heart is a muscular organ that serves as a pump for transporting blood and other substances throughout the human body. Blood that is rich in carbon dioxide enters the right side of the heart through the vena cava and travels to the lungs through the pulmonary artery. Blood that has a high oxygen content travels from the lungs through the pulmonary vein into the left side of the heart. This oxygen rich blood leaves the heart through the aorta is is transported to various parts of the body.
