Naming Hydrocarbons



Chemical compounds were named as per IUPAC nomenclature in order to avoid duplicate names. IUPAC nomenclature has one set of standardized rules. According to IUPAC system, the IUPAC name of an organic compound may consist of 5 parts that is: “Secondary prefix + Primary prefix + Word root + Primary suffix + Secondary suffix”.
